Personal Training

Personal training is one-on-one instruction with a nationally certified personal trainer that incorporates exercise screening, goal-setting and health education. Following a fitness consultation, the trainer will design a challenging workout routine specifically designed for your individual needs. Your personal trainer is there to instruct you on proper lifting techniques, introduce you to exercises that target your specific goals and motivate you towards your full potential.

Complete Fitness Assessment

$40 for students and members | $55 for non-members

To reach your goals, you have to know where you are starting from. The Complete Fitness Assessment will put you on the correct path to a healthier lifestyle. The Assessment is comprised of three components: Kinotek® Movement Analysis, Tanita® Body Composition Analysis and a complete goals, medical and exercise history and wants/needs discussion.

The Kinotek® Movement Analysis assessment utilizes an infrared camera to measure your range of motion and movement patterns. Because movement is a foundational aspect of your body, paying attention to it and performing it accurately will help keep you fit for your entire life.

The Kinotek® camera will measure range of motion around a joint, posture, asymmetries while moving (front to back and side to side) and any movement compensations you may be performing due to weakness, tightness, injury or more.

The Tanita® body composition analyzer will measure such items as body fat percentage, total body water, percent of muscle mass, bone weight (important for osteoporosis) and more.

The entire assessment will last about 45-60 minutes.

One-On-One Training

These sessions are extremely beneficial for those who prefer individual personal instruction, motivation and support. Your trainer will customize sessions for you that may include weight machines, free weights, cardio equipment, flexibility, core, balance training and TRX (Total Body Resistance eXercise).

All new participants must complete a fitness consultation prior to beginning training. The first session of your package will include your fitness consultation.

Group Personal Training

$170 for student and members | $240 for non-members

Group Personal Training (including Kinotek®) is a brand new offering through UVA Recreation. This allows you to receive six sessions at a lower price. Your sessions will include one complete fitness assessment using our Kinotek® movement analysis software program and our Tanita® body composition analyzer, plus a full goals discussion and plan. Then, you will also receive five one-hour group personal training sessions on top of that!

Kinotek® utilizes an infrared camera to measure your range of motion and movement patterns. Because movement is a foundational aspect of your body, paying attention to it and performing it accurately will help keep you fit for your entire life. While the group personal training sessions will be performed with other individuals, your personal program will be individualized to fit your goals and needs.
